I’d owned a Roadster for five years without OVMS. I saw all the buzz about it on TMC but didn’t think I needed it. The configuration looked cumbersome and I wasn’t seeing the value, as I wasn’t driving the car much. Then I took it on a road trip and arrived at my hotel’s destination charger with just a few miles left in range mode. On top of that, an issue had come up that caused the charge to randomly abort. I had to come down from my hotel room throughout the night to make sure that the car was still charging. I now have OVMS on two Roadsters and wish I’d done it sooner. Configuration was straightforward. Set it and forget it. Having the ability to look up the car’s SOC from anywhere is huge for peace of mind. It’s like a remote VDS on your mobile device. Initiate a range charge while having breakfast. Lock it remotely if you forgot to use the key fob. See its location on the map. Many thanks to the individuals who created this product and to the Medlocks for making it available to North America! It has greatly improved the ownership experience with these cars.
